About this deal

A group of women that aren’t ugly, “too” large, or unconventional enough to be bullied; but also not stunning enough to be a constant object of attraction. However, I do find with the introduction of social media, making real friends and keeping them can be quite difficult. Do not confuse with " Friends with benefits", as sexual attraction isn't directed towards someone who is hot friend material.

I hope it finds itself into my people's hands this year, we all need My Hot Friend in our lives in 2023. And Lexi - well, Lexi is living the dream, hosting a podcast with her childhood bestie that's riding high at the top of the charts. In a society where image is perceived as everything, and the number of reactions a social media post gets is tantamount to success, there are times when it all gets a little too much.Three women, three very different lives, three people who just want friendship and love — but when they come together they’ll find that maybe they’ve got more in common than they think.

All in all a good book and one I think that would be as entertaining as it is informative, which is a tricky balance to get right. The writing in the closing chapters is beautiful and informative and makes something that is usually ignored in this type of book relatable and understandable and I thought it was generous of the author to include and explore. There are no words to describe how much I loved this book so I won't even try too much 😂 I've always loved Sophie's writing but this is by far my favourite. Overall I enjoyed the touch influencers, podcasts and social media how it can be all glamorous and consuming while also being quite toxic. Her collection of essays in Corpsing, her superbly unsettling and creepy horror of Where I End and now the funny, relatable and insightful My Hot Friend. It is an ultimately hopeful book about living with - not being cured of - a brain that is a bit tricksy. Every main character is an absolute gem and I so enjoyed reading how they realised their current surroundings weren't actually benefitting them.

They’re flawed, troubled, insecure, hurt, angry — I felt so much of my own rage and frustration at the world reflected back at me through them. I just found it an extremely relatable book and I kept finding myself relating certain aspects of it back to my own life and I just loved that. Read more about the condition New: A new, unread, unused book in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages.Their stories come together in unexpected ways - sometimes very funny, sometimes very sad - and their friendship grows slowly over the course of the book. I couldn't put it down but it also made me desperately sad for the characters and for myself as it echoed experiences I've had.

I still haven't recovered from Where I end) Amanda in particular really grated on me I fell in love with Abi's housemates and their tribute band, Slip'not 😂 and being a pretty big Slipknot fan, I really enjoyed this reference 🤣I thought all the different personalities worked really well throughout the book and the interlinking stories kept me turning the pages. Multiple societal and relevant themes are sensitively handled, with Sophie White adding a letter to all readers at the end explaining her own personal battles. It's brilliant the way the stories are weaved together and I actually found it quite an emotional read.Navigating friendships, relationships and life in a world where so much is on show, and being present is considered vital, leaves these three women struggling. There are so many books out there about finding love, the meaning of true love, and finding love in your thirties.
